Hello,
I’ve noticed that DNG files contain more pixel data than displayed on camera. But later have 8px 10px 8px 10px crop applied to metadata.
For example Camera settings shows 1200x620 but actual recorded data is 1216x640
Is there a reason for this extra crop? On super high speed recording modes those extra 20px on vertical resolution is genuinely useful. Which is actually possible to get back by modifying DNG file metadata.
Haha, you found one of the camera’s little internal secrets ![]()
We can’t really share the exact reason behind that extra crop, but yes — if you’ve discovered those extra pixels and they’re useful for your workflow, feel free to make use of them.
Consider it a tiny hidden bonus from the sensor goblin.

Would you mind Publishing full Max framerate to resolution table somewhere? I noticed that the pattern is not very obvious.
And 620v or 640v gives pretty much the same max resolution so maybe thats where the crop comes in? ![]()
