I think you should buy one and then see for yourself. What you would rather do.

I don’t know for me. As long as the cardboard box is secure, I don’t mind it, but to each their own. I def. get both sides.

Welp, you’re only $13,999 away from owning your very own deluxe cardboard box with magnetic closure. Enjoy!

Quit trolling man, i’ve bought cameras in the past that are more expensive than this and still came in a cardboard box. The experience of unboxing a Leica M10 camera was pretty satisfying and never thought for a second that a cardboard box was cheap. Everyone gets their own case/camera bags afterwards. Next thing you know they change their minds, give us a pellican case that can only fit the camera but nothing else for me will be useless. I will want a bigger case to put monitor, v mount batteries, handle etc. Seriously from previous threads that I read it looks like you didn’t even buy this camera. Why are you even here?

I apologize. I totally understand what you’re saying about the case.

They can wrap it in newspaper for all I care, the main thing is that it finally arrives…

You guys will never guess what kind of packaging a $70k Alexa 35 or a $50k Venice 2 comes in…

Most people will put the camera in their own case that’s customized to their wants, so I don’t see the purpose of adding $50-100 in cost for a pre-cut shipping case that won’t get used, but maybe that’s just me.

I already bought a case for it (Nanuk 930 with padded dividers - often on sale at B&H as a 50% off daily deal), so I can adjust it to fit my final build and all the accessories (media, handles, monitor, baseplate, cables, etc.). I much prefer that over a pre-cut shipping case that only holds the camera with zero attached accessories.

Pretty cool looking Nanuk 930 case!

Either you replied to the wrong person, or misunderstood what Pixboo typed. He’s on the same side as you: no need for a Pelican type case.

It’s all good even if he did mean to reply me. I apologized already.

Thanks. I have a couple Pelican 1535 cases (the full case pictured), but actually prefer the Nanuk case. The latches are better and the factory padded interiors come with more pieces (and therefore, more customization options) than the Pelicans.

Cool, I’ll look out for BH deals on this in the future. Thanks for the heads up!

My bad, perhaps I misread what Pixboo said.

Awesome, I bought the same case when it was on sale at B&H in matching Silver in prep for the Spark. I agree that pelican as brand is over blown however when I speak of a pelican as a case I typically refer to pelican like cases in general. They have been around so long it’s just what I identify them as lol … … Great choice on the case tho either way.

The case I bought ahead of time for the Spark was the pelican vault 525 for $89. Will likely change that in time, however I couldn’t pass up the price when showed up. B&H often runs really great one day deals in their deal zone area and even better flash sale deals, and then combine that with the payboo credit card and you pay no sales tax. (just pay off the CC or you will pay ridiculous interest)

Both B&H & Adorama have been known as well to miss-price things from time to time… When the Flowtech legs & Aktiv 10 head combo came out it was miss-priced by over half off… Myself and a number of other DP’s got a sweet heart deal on those.

Another option is to find someone with a corporate B&H account  Some really nice discounts to be had there.

I originally picked up a Vault 525 for my Spark as well on one of the sales but ended up not loving it, though it’s probably just fine. So I jumped on the Nanuk (which I already had a couple of for other gear, so knew I liked it) on a daily deal just the other month. Sometimes it’s only the black version that goes on sale, but this time around I had color choices and got the olive green for fun.

I agree with everyone.
Personally I DO NOT care what is the “packaging” paper box…
I would rather have it shipped inside pelican style case with custom foam fitting that I can use it later.
Do not waste time and money on designing something we won’t actually use - we’re not iPhone style customers to care about unboxing.

Nice insight, I haven’t done anything with that vault case yet, as it’s just waiting on the spark to arrive. However maybe with your insights I will give Nanuk a try if I can get one on discount soon.

Except the hard liners that are also customizable — man I’d love that for the Nanuks bc I feel they are far more rugged. It’s all preference based—looking forward to spending more money :money_with_wings:  c’est le cinema!!

I’ve been using Nanuk cases for my cinema camera gear… it’s been great – only one is a hard case, the rest are more portable, but you can order the hard case with a pick 'n pluck foam, or get it custom laser cut. I got a pick 'n pluck one. Laser cut would of course be more durable, but the pick 'n pluck is easy to customize.
