Delays and excuses, but no responsibility

Quinn,

I’m writing regarding the continued delay in delivery of my Pixboom camera.

When I placed my order, the expectation was that the camera would be delivered in January. We are now well beyond that date, and what has become increasingly frustrating is not simply the delay itself, but the repeated explanations and shifting expectations surrounding delivery.

I understand that bringing a new camera to market can involve manufacturing challenges, supply-chain issues, quality-control concerns, and unforeseen setbacks. I have spent much of my professional life working with camera equipment and production, so I am certainly not naïve about the complexities involved.

However, there comes a point at which those explanations cease to be reassuring. Customers who committed their money and supported Pixboom based on a promised delivery schedule deserve something more concrete than another revised estimate.

At this stage, I would like a clear and realistic assessment of when my camera will actually be delivered. If there are still uncertainties, I would much rather hear that directly than receive another delivery date that may not be met.

I also believe Pixboom should seriously consider how it intends to compensate customers who have been waiting months beyond the originally represented delivery period. Including additional media cards, accessories, extended warranty coverage, or some comparable gesture would be a reasonable acknowledgment of both the delay and the patience your customers have shown.

I am not asking for something unreasonable. I am asking Pixboom to recognize that there is a difference between asking customers for patience and repeatedly moving the finish line.

I remain interested in the camera and want Pixboom to succeed. But at this point, confidence needs to be restored through action rather than another explanation.

I would appreciate a direct response regarding both the realistic delivery date for my camera and what Pixboom is prepared to do for customers who have experienced this extended delay.

I know how frustrating it is waiting for a camera you’ve put money down on and getting delay after delay with no firm timeline. I went through the same thing with the Alexa 35 pre-order when it first dropped. I put in a pre-order day 1, and they kept pushing back when people were getting cameras and would not give any estimated delivery dates (I ended up canceling my order after a couple months with no timeline for getting my camera).

I’m going through this again with my FX5 pre-order. It keeps getting delayed for unexplained QC reasons, with no actual ship date clearly laid out.

You think Sony will give me free stuff for being late? Or that Arri would have? Especially a $2000 media card? Come on now, be realistic.

Why are you even commenting when you already have your camera, that’s awfully cheeky!!Are you part of the company? With Arri and Sony you certainly didn’t have to give a 100% purchase up front, the only example is Red camera and I was an early adopter with them as well and yes red paid us back in so many ways for all the delays. I’ll ask politely for you to consider being more sensitive to the plight of those unlike yourself and are still waiting!!! Nowfo

Hi Sergio,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback so thoughtfully — we truly hear you, and we understand how frustrating this extended wait has been.

Quinn should have already reached out to you via email with the latest delivery window. Please do check your inbox (and spam folder just in case)! If you haven’t received anything, feel free to let us know and we’ll make sure you get a direct response right away.

You are posting on a public forum for something that should be a (private) email - anybody has the right to add their opinion. If you don’t like that, maybe sticking to email in the future would be the way to go! :)

I hope you get your camera soon, though!!  Waiting sucks, and I 100% would be frustrated too.

Cheers!
