10-bit is the absolute max?

Hi @young,

I saw that the camera is 10bit. I also saw that Davinci Resolve now supports ProresRaw. I have a Atomos monitor that can record more bits when I use my Sony for example. My thought process here: any way you guys can collaborate with Atomos to get a higher bitrate, or does that not work like that?

Atomos caps out at a certain frame rate no? I have not used one before so just curious.

The camera’s bit depth is determined by the sensor’s ADC. In the highest frame rate mode, it can only output 10-bit data. However, we are considering enabling a 12-bit mode (even if the frame rate is halved) through a firmware update sometime after the product ships. This feature has indeed been highly requested.

That would be amazing! 12 bit RAW even at 300-400fps would be killer!!!

Yeah 4K 12 bit would be great even if the frame rate is halved!

4K 12bit at even 192 FPS would be wonderful! If that is on the horizon that is!

If 12-bit mode is supported, will it automatically switch to 12-bit for resolutions under 4K@500fps and default to 10-bit for anything above 500fps? Or will users need to manually toggle the bit depth to a specific mode?

Hi, both options are technically feasible. We’ll evaluate which mode offers a more user-friendly experience.

That is a wonderful suggestion.
