I assume that the box will contain the camera and a power supply for the camera, right? Will we get anything else with the camera?
Will Dtap-DC 5-pin or XLR-DC 5-pin power cables be available for purchase separately?
It would be good if such cables were available for purchase if they are not included in the set, in shorter (50 cm) and longer (2 m) versions. Ideally, they should also be available for purchase before the first units are shipped in January, so that they can be delivered together with the camera.
Good questions. I’d be surprised if it shipped with a power supply, as they seem to be leaning into the V-mount being the primary method of powering, but maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised. I agree that having accessories and options right out of the gate, whether straight from Pixboom or from 3rd party providers, is very important.
Good questions. Yes, a power adapter will be included with the camera.
Regarding the D-Tap and XLR to 5-pin cables, that’s an interesting idea. Since a power adapter is already provided, would you still need these other cables for different power sources?
Yes, when working on the Bolt robot with high-speed shots, we dismantle the camera as much as possible so that, for example, the vlock battery does not come out during fast movements and injure anyone.
The cables run over our arm, and I can directly pull the power supply through a 3-pin XLR from the arm and plug it into the camera I think there are many more specific situations where they will come in handy
I asked about the power supply because, if these accessories are not available, we will probably use the power supply for the camera and install XLR connectors
We did the same with our power supply for the RED camera.
Assuming the camera runs off of standard 14v V-mount batteries, then the AC power to XLR dongle we’d be hoping for would be a 4-pin XLR to interface with existing XLR power solutions like the 200w, 14v Power Supply – Core SWX. If the camera ran off 24v then the industry standard would be a 3-pin XLR. For our use case on our robot arm, having the XLR adapter would be a huge time savings over staying on top of keeping batteries charged and swapped throughout the day.
Since we are talking about accessoires, will it be possible to mount a handle with build in record button? Like the red komodo outrigger handle? That would be very nice and ergonomic in my opinion
