Enhancing Data Security: Password Confirmation Before Formatting

Hi there, I have a small feature suggestion: how about requiring a password confirmation before formatting the drive? This password could be tied to the card ID or the camera itself. I’m bringing this up because I’ve run into situations where newbies accidentally formatted cards. They might have thought the footage wasn’t needed anymore but didn’t have the right person to confirm with.

I’m curious if others have faced similar issues…

This sounds like a great idea for a second layer of protection!

Taking it even further - why not use facial recognition for this? (Since Spark is a camera lol!) :joy:

哈哈哈哈!

Usually it’s not from strangers you need to protect your data from but yourself or someone else on your team after long shooting days erasing the wrong card by accident. A password is not very useful to protect your data in those situations.

I’d highly recommend to implement a “safe erase” mode which only allows storage media without clips to be formatted. People in charge of doing your backups should digitally mark cards as ready for reuse. Preferably this is done with automated tools like ParaShoot. (disclaimer: I am the developer and co-founder of the company who made this tool available free of charge).
