GoPro Mission Pro 1 and GoPro Mission 1 ILS Announced: One Inch Sensor 8K60 fps, 4K 240 fps, 1080P 480 fps continuous and 1080P 960 fps 10 second burst

Interesting announcement with a fixed lens and ILS version with an MFT mount. I know it’s only a one inch sensor, but the high frame rates are a pretty nice touch and hasn’t been seen in a GoPro form factor. Someone on a video confirmed it’s real 1080P 960 fps (10 second burst) and not interpolated. Hope he’s right. I hope the competition heats up and moves to bigger size sensors. It be nice to have this portable version for slowmo and the Pixboom Spark at the same time. hehe Glad to see the action camera market starting to get into super slowmo. I know it’s only 1080P but if it’s decent quality, should upscale well with Topaz to 4K. Just happy we are getting more options.

If I get the ILS version I can pair it with the Nokton 29 0.8 or and modern sharp Laowa 0.95 lens for good enough shallow DOF.

The competition is heating up for sure – Black Magic announced an update to the UC 12K that can record up to 440 fps, though as far as I can tell, that is when using a B4 mount, which probably means that it’s in around 2K resolution.

Barring some disaster, the Spark will probably dominate indie slo-mo filming, and I would be not at all surprised to see some indie filmmakers using a Spark as a primary camera in film production, since most film productions use second system audio anyway.

Especially with the 12-bit mode coming soon; after all, the Komodo became an indie darling camera at launch even though it wasn’t designed to be one, so why not the Spark? All it needs is great color science and native support in Resolve and Bob’s your uncle.

Then the GoPro ILS camera will be the indie darling crash camera

We truly are living in exciting times regarding super slowmo! Competition just means more choices for us in the future. I plan to get both versions of the GoPro along with the Spark later on in the year.
