My Power IO has arrived and bench testing says its all working.. Yet again Mutiny has adapted one of their awesome products to yet another new camera. Thanks Mutiny.
I will be testing is more extensively over the next few weeks however I was able to use all the power ports, R/S button and the Fisher 3 pin to Tilta 7 pin, MK2 Tilta motors powered from the fisher port and Run / Stop on the hand unit worked perfectly once I enabled R/S in the settings menu of the spark.
My Mutiny gold mount back came in today. It took a little bit of wiggling to get it to mount, but it feels pretty solid with a minimal amount of play (a bit is to be expected from a V-mount connection). The 9-pin EXT cable just reaches, though I would have liked an extra couple millimetres in length so it didn’t feel like I was stretching it too hard when plugging it in.
I tested the run/stop with my Nucleus M (using the 3-pin to motor cable to both power it and trigger run/stop. It worked great.
I had a couple false triggers with my Teradek RT from plugging in the MDR CAM to 3-pin cable (which started rolling the camera as soon as I plugged it in) and again when unplugging the MDR power triggered it. I think I just need to make sure the MDR power is plugged in first and unplugged last to avoid the false trigger. But with both cables plugged in it worked fine. Somewhere around here I have the 3-pin to 3-pin cable so I can do R/S and power my MDR.S with a single cable, but I can’t figure out where that cable went. I’ll test that configuration when I do.
I’m glad I picked this up. Having gold mount compatibility, R/S capability, and power distro really makes this much more usable on set, at least for me.
