Hi Pixboomers,
I want to start this update with a huge thank you.
I know that waiting for a pre-order is never easy. The silence between updates can sometimes feel longer than it actually is. So, I want you to know that while we’ve been quiet, we’ve been working non-stop to make sure that your patience pays off.
Today, I’m really happy because I finally have something real to show you. No more renders, no more “what ifs”—just the real product, coming to life.
Here is the latest.
1. The Real Look (For Your Eyes Only)
You’ve supported us from the beginning, so you deserve to see exactly what we see—without the filters.
I’ve uploaded a video clip of the very first unit below, plus some candid photos I snapped of the assembly team.
A quick note:
Sharing unedited footage is always a little scary for a brand, but I trust this community. We did a basic color conversion so it’s not grey (Log format), but other than that? This is 100% raw.
No special lighting, no staging, no makeup. Just the authentic reality of the Spark being built.
2. Production Progress: It’s Finally Real
So, what does that video mean for you?
I want to take a moment to explain exactly where we are in the manufacturing cycle, just so we are on the same page.
In the world of hardware (especially for something complex like a camera), we don’t just flip a switch and start mass production. There are typically two main stages: Pre-Production and Mass Production.
Right now, having just finished setting up the new assembly line, we are officially in the Pre-Production phase.
- The Goal: Think of this as our “stress test.” The purpose of this phase is to verify the yield rate (quality consistency) and the efficiency of the line before we open the floodgates.
- The Plan: We have scheduled a strict, controlled run of 20 units for this phase. But we aren’t stopping there. To guarantee absolute stability and durability, we will conduct a second trial run in late February. This extra step ensures that by the time we start mass shipping in mid-to-late March, the Spark is fully optimized and meets every single requirement.
And the unit you see in the video? That is the very first result of this pre-production run.
I can’t tell you how relieved I am to say this. Seeing it finished was an emotional moment for our team. It feels like the first “child” of our new assembly line. But more importantly, it means we are one huge step closer to getting this into your hands.
What now?
We are currently making the remaining 19 units for this pilot batch. We’re doing this step-by-step, strictly following every inspection node. We aren’t rushing this part because we want to make sure the unit you receive is perfect.
3. When will it arrive? (March Target)
I know this is the question on everyone’s mind.
Target: We are still on track to start shipping the first batch in mid-March.
Numbers: We expect to deliver about 200-300 units between mid-March and April.
Real talk on the timeline:
I’m confident in this date, but I also want to be transparent with you. The global supply chain is still a bit of a beast. Right now, everything is green, but we are watching our suppliers like hawks to ensure nothing gets in the way of your delivery.
For orders after this first batch, we’re crunching the logistics numbers now. I’ll have a clearer schedule for everyone else in the next update.
4. Important Update: SSD Pricing (Please Read)
I really hate having to do this, but I want to look out for you guys regarding the SSD add-ons.
If you follow tech news, you know SSD prices are going nuts globally due to shortages. It’s totally out of our control, and it’s hitting our costs hard. We tried to absorb the cost for as long as we could to protect you from price hikes, but we just can’t anymore.
However, I want to make sure our early supporters are taken care of:
If you have already placed an order: You are 100% safe. Your price is locked in and won’t change.
If you haven’t ordered yet (or want to add an SSD): The price on our official website will go from $1,999 to $2,599.
When: The current pricing ends next Friday, Feb 6th, at 8:00 AM PST.
I’m telling you this now—a week in advance—so that if you were on the fence, you still have time to grab it at the old price. I’d rather be honest and give you a chance to save money than surprise you with a higher price tag later.
What’s Next?
Thank you for watching the raw footage. Seeing that first unit finished gave the whole team a huge morale boost, and I hope it gives you a spark of excitement too.
Next Update:
I’ll be back in late February. Our factory partners will be taking a break for the Chinese New Year holiday to be with their families, so operations will pause briefly. I’ll update you fully once everyone is back and recharged.
Thank you for sticking with us on this journey. We are almost there.
Warmly,
Jing and The Pixboom Team ![]()
