Suggestions for new MacBook Pro

Hi all,

whilst eagerly awaiting news and shipping info on my Spark order, I’m using the time to decide on what new MacBook Pro to purchase. Please do not suggest non Mac products, no offence but I use Mac’s. 

if any of you have suggestions for the minimum requirements on specs, I’d appreciate the advice. 

Apart from using the new MacBook to edit the Spark footage, I dabble in documentaries and still mostly shoot in 4K on Sony cameras.

I’m still running a base 13" M1 with 8GB RAM and use it for 6K RED footage, so I imagine any modern M4 or M5 with 16GB+ should have zero issue with the files.

My Macbook M1 Max with 32GB RAM is still kicking. If you can wait till next year, I’d see what the M6 has to offer. I might upgrade to the new M6 Max next year with the new redesign.

I’m also still on a MacBook Pro M1 Max. Apple kind of shot themselves in the foot with how well their own chips perform :sweat_smile: I’d happily buy any M5 Max MacBook Pro now, so I’d suggest that. Go with as much RAM as you can afford since you can’t upgrade that.
