I thought it might be good to have a thread where we can suggest what types of accessories we’d like to see developed for the camera (whether from Pixboom themselves or a 3rd party).
Some things that I’d like to see:
• Camera skin/wrap. These are great for keeping the camera body from getting scratched up and are relatively inexpensive to produce.
• Screen protector. Just a basic screen protector for the top touchscreen. Maybe in anti-glare and glass options.
• Camera cage. I know we’re getting the included SmallRig cage, but it’s pretty basic and I’d like to see more comprehensive designs, like ones that include side plates and maybe more 1/4"-20 and 3/8" holes for mounting accessories.
• USB4/Thunderbolt card reader. For those times where you need to offload at the fastest possible speed.
• 15mm lightweight baseplate/riser to Arri dovetail that puts the 15mm rods at the correct height from the optical center. I’m hoping that once we get the optical center height of the Pixboom, I’ll be able to make one of the existing Bright Tangerine LeftField baseplates work.
• POGO enabled side handle. Having a handle with a run/stop trigger built in would be great. I’m curious what other things the POGO supports?
• Power plate options. We all know what it’s like putting a monitor, video transmitter, wireless follow focus, etc. on a camera and then having almost no power sources for all these things. So hopefully we get a few more power options. I really like the Mutiny plate (will also let me use my gold mount batteries) and will likely get that, but it doesn’t hurt to have more options.
I get that this is a more niche camera, so we’re not going to get the same level of aftermarket options as a Sony mirrorless or something like that, where they sell 10’s of thousands every year. But hopefully it’s successful enough that there is some desire out there to develop a robust array of accessories.
What all would you like to see?
