What accessories would you like to see?

I thought it might be good to have a thread where we can suggest what types of accessories we’d like to see developed for the camera (whether from Pixboom themselves or a 3rd party).

Some things that I’d like to see:

• Camera skin/wrap. These are great for keeping the camera body from getting scratched up and are relatively inexpensive to produce.

• Screen protector. Just a basic screen protector for the top touchscreen. Maybe in anti-glare and glass options.

• Camera cage. I know we’re getting the included SmallRig cage, but it’s pretty basic and I’d like to see more comprehensive designs, like ones that include side plates and maybe more 1/4"-20 and 3/8" holes for mounting accessories.

• USB4/Thunderbolt card reader. For those times where you need to offload at the fastest possible speed.

• 15mm lightweight baseplate/riser to Arri dovetail that puts the 15mm rods at the correct height from the optical center. I’m hoping that once we get the optical center height of the Pixboom, I’ll be able to make one of the existing Bright Tangerine LeftField baseplates work.

• POGO enabled side handle. Having a handle with a run/stop trigger built in would be great. I’m curious what other things the POGO supports?

• Power plate options. We all know what it’s like putting a monitor, video transmitter, wireless follow focus, etc. on a camera and then having almost no power sources for all these things. So hopefully we get a few more power options. I really like the Mutiny plate (will also let me use my gold mount batteries) and will likely get that, but it doesn’t hurt to have more options.

I get that this is a more niche camera, so we’re not going to get the same level of aftermarket options as a Sony mirrorless or something like that, where they sell 10’s of thousands every year. But hopefully it’s successful enough that there is some desire out there to develop a robust array of accessories.

What all would you like to see?

A Peli/SKB Hard case with custom inlay for let‘s say the camera body, 2-3 ssd, and some default space for battery, cables etc.

Thanks for putting this together, man! Let’s see what other creative ideas creators come up with in this thread that we can tackle together!

Any chance of a Pixboom or third-party R/S (Record/Stop) trigger?

I’m sure Mutiny will make a number of R/S solutions. That’s kind of their specialty.

yes essential please and to combine with a pan bar remote

It would be awesome if Pixboom can publish a solid model of the camera - even better if done prior to shipping - that we can play with and use to model accessories. It can be simplified version that only shows mounting threads and overall shapes to check fitment.

Hi

would it be possible to use the usbc on the camera to plug the

Blackmagic URSA Cine EVF

in order to have an evf for the camera and still have the Sri and hdmi free ?

Hi,

That’s a good question. Unfortunately, the USB-C port on the Spark doesn’t output a video signal, so it’s not possible to use it for video monitoring with an EVF.

However, the USB-C port can be used to supply power to external devices.

That’s a great suggestion. A simplified version might be possible, for example, one that includes the locations of the mounting holes.

An L-Mount

One basic thing I’d like to see in the store is just a bag of 5 or so replacement lens mount screws. Even if they’re captive screws on the lens mounts, screws tend to have a way of shaking themselves loose and getting lost, so a bag of spares would be useful.

Young , did you advance on this ?

can you share a blueprint of the threaded holes on the camera with distances ?

thanks

Perhaps Pixboom could include a spare second set of lens mount screws with every lens mount (including that which is supplied with the camera), given their tiny cost? This would be much appreciated.

We’ll be sharing the Spark models and blueprints to help with custom accessory development.

That’s a fantastic suggestion! I’ve noted it down for us to evaluate. (Cost isn’t the issue here, it’s mainly about the shipping and packaging side of things!)

Hi Young,

Any idea when these can be made available (blueprints and models)? Please do private message me about this if possible? It’s so that I can begin the process of having a dive housing designed with a housing manufacturer.

Looking forward to hearing any updates the team has.
