Yeah I agree. If it’s good, it would be unlikely anyone would sell cheaper than the kickstarter price given the 13k RRP… Might be some people looking to flip it quickly for somewhere between 8k and 13k though.
From what I’m seeing so far though, if they can deliver a reliable and slightly more polished product, the kickstarter price is a great deal.
Oh I know it’s a risk and most likely I won’t be able to find one used for that price. But you never know. Not in a total rush to get it since I have another slowmo camera.
I doubt it will be bad. And yes, it is a risky move but I’m in no rush. More likely I’ll find one used within two years for $7000. Maybe $6000 is too aggressive. Depends how fast the seller wants to sell it.
Also, after looking at Phillip Bloom’s video, the dynamic range and highlight rolloff in those backlit scenes were rather harsh/muddy looking and I’m not convinced yet. The other shots where they were more front lit look amazing though!
i think its great value for the money as it appears so far. I’ve used an Ember Freefly before and it was ‘ok’. I’m curious how the ‘harsh’ highlights will be eventually when they gave tweaked the camera. My thought process: Ember is more than double the price and doesn’t have 1600 ISO. The ISO (lowlight capability) of the Ember was a problem for me. If you light properly I have a feeling that you can get some really nice footage with the SPARK, for 7500 dollars. In my opinion thats great value. Other option is an Ember Freefly (lower quality) or Phantom (…80k…)…
