I’m hoping we can get anamorphic desqueeze preview options in the Pixboom. Currently, the Chronos cam I have doesn’t have this option and can be challenging when using anamorphic lenses and trying to critical focus.
Couldn’t agree more! The anamorphic dequeeze isn’t technically complex, yet it’s quite baffling why many manufacturers haven’t incorporated this feature.
Yes, I’ve been wondering why more companies don’t implement this. It’d also be great if the anamorphic desqueeze options were customizable, since people use a variety of anamorphic lenses—like 1.25x, 1.33x, 1.5x, 1.6x, 1.75x, 1.8x, and 2.0x squeeze.
That’s right. Hopefully, Pixboom spark can make the dequeeze like the color temperature options, offering multiple settings.
What anamorphic gear are you using? Right now, I’m using Blazar, Sirui, and Isco. My 2x anamorphic scope works really well on the Chronos 1.4 thanks to its square sensor, but I’m guessing that with the Pixboo’s more rectangular aspect ratio, something like a 1.25X, 1.33x or 1.5x might be a better fit.
I also use Blazar, along with Laowa and Atlas. I prefer the rectangular field of view (since A-cam for content creation are typically rectangular). The square format seems a bit odd to me, and I think it’s due to the historical preference for square formats in high-speed scientific applications.
Yeah, that’s why I use a 2X scope to make the squarish format of the Chronos 1.4 more rectangular. This is an example I did below with the Chronos 1.4 and anamorphic. You could also use anamorphic to make a skinny ratio (more common in highspeed cameras to shoot higher fps) to make the viewing angle taller at the top and bottom if your anamorphic lens has the ability to rotate.
Such a cute video! Using the lens vertically is a great technique; it can significantly boost the frame rate. I definitely want to try it out too!
Thank you! Really appreciate it.
