Dear Pixboomers,
I’ll be honest — this update is a few days later than I promised.
The reason is simple: I was waiting for the final word from TÜV Rheinland before writing anything, because I didn’t want to send another update that said “almost.” I wanted to be able to say done.
So here we are. Done.
1. TÜV Rheinland Certification — Passed
The TÜV Rheinland testing process is now fully complete, and all tests have passed.
This is the milestone that unlocks everything downstream — CE (European) and FCC (US) certifications will both follow from here.
More importantly, it means we can now move forward with a real, confirmed shipping schedule. No more “we expect,” no more “most likely.” Here is where things actually stand.
2. Shipping Schedule — First Units Going Out After May 5th
As mentioned in our last update, China’s Labour Day holiday runs May 1st through May 5th, during which DHL operations within China are suspended.
With that in mind, here is our current shipping plan:
- First batch ships from May 5th onward
- May through June: approximately 300 units shipped out progressively
- June through August: the remaining units shipped out in sequence
We know some of you have been waiting a long time for a number like this. We’re glad we can finally give you one.
3. A Note on Early Unit Packaging — Pelican Case
Some of you have already noticed or asked about this, so I want to address it directly.
For the first ~100 units in the earliest batch, our production packaging will not be ready in time. Rather than delay those shipments further, we’ve made the decision to ship these early units in a Pelican case as a substitute.
A few things worth noting:
- The Pelican case offers excellent protection — your camera will arrive safely
- This is a temporary solution for early units only
- Once our production packaging is ready, we will not continue using Pelican cases for subsequent shipments
- Photos of the early-batch packaging are shown below
Before we ship your unit, our support team will send you a confirmation email to verify your shipping address and accessories. If you’d prefer to wait for the full Pixboom retail packaging instead, simply let us know by replying to that confirmation email, we’re happy to hold your unit until standard packaging is ready.
We wanted to be upfront about this rather than have it come as a surprise. For the backers receiving these early units — you’re getting your Spark first, and it’s coming in a case that’ll probably outlast all of us.
4. NAB 2026 — Come Find Us
For those of you who have been waiting to see Spark in person — your moment is coming.
We will be exhibiting at NAB 2026.
Booth C7228, Central Hall
If you’re attending NAB and want to get your hands on the camera, see it in action, or just come say hello — we would genuinely love to see you there. This is exactly the kind of moment we’ve been building towards.
A Quick Note on the Next Update
I’ll be at NAB next week, which means I likely won’t have time to post a proper update while I’m there.
But once I’m back in China on the 26th, I’ll get you a full recap — NAB highlights, any feedback we gathered on the floor, and the latest on shipping progress.
Thank you, as always, for staying with us. This one felt good to write.
Best regards,
Jing and the Pixboom Team ![]()
