The height from the optical center of the sensor to the bottom of the camera is 54mm. As a side note, the optical center of the sensor is also the mechanical center of the body. Hope that helps😄

In the early versions, the HDMI output had some latency, but this won’t be an issue in the final version.

I just downloaded two clips and graded them in Davinci. Is the fixed pattern noise something that you just can’t avoid with this camera? The Ember has the same problem.
Will there be any sort of support available that U.S. customers can access during normal M-F business hours?
Before I would purchase this camera pre-record is a MUST. I see this question has been asked several times. I would just suggest you copy what Freefly did with the Ember. Unless there is a RAM buffer in this camera. No, right? If it doesn’t matter then giving the user a selectable amount of time to hit the trigger button would be great.
Will there be a way to edit the clips directly in the camera to save storage space? This feature would be very helpful for nature videos.

Thanks for testing the footage and for your great questions! Here are the answers regarding your concerns:

Regarding the FPN (Fixed Pattern Noise):
The clips currently in the Gallery are completely raw, unprocessed data. We released them this way intentionally to demonstrate the sensor’s native performance without any “makeup.” However, for the official shipping version, we will definitely implement FPN calibration and removal processes to address this, so the final image quality will be much cleaner than the raw samples you see now. -
Regarding US Support:
We are planning to establish a US-based repair center in Los Angeles in Q1 2026. We will announce the specific contact person and detailed support information closer to that date to ensure our US customers are well taken care of. -
Regarding Pre-record:
Great news—Pre-record is already implemented! We currently support a 2.5s pre-record . You can read more about this feature and our progress in our latest update post here:

Just received my camera and am over the moon excited. Everything is as expected if not better. Took it out for it’s first shoot yesterday and was curious if there is a way to scrub through playback quickly using the scroll wheel or a similar feature? Right now i’m just 4x up to the action and then reviewing but this process is slow and finicky. Any advice on how to scrub through footage quicker would be appreciated. Thanks.
Currently the only way is to “scrub” on the progress bar in the top right (image in this post). It’s jumpy and not super smooth scrubbing.
According to this reply, RAW data (maybe referring to PXB files?) are too heavy to scrub smoothly in camera, so might be a hardware limitation. They’re looking into the possibility of in-camera proxies that would allow for better playback and scrubbing straight from camera.
As you note, being able to scrub via the scroll wheel would be nice, especially since the current touchscreen bar is super small and would be hard to control accurately.

In the current version, the quickest way to scrub through playback is to use the progress bar in the top-right corner of the camera screen. You can drag it directly to jump around the clip timeline much faster than relying on playback speed alone.
Also, good news: in upcoming firmware updates, Spark will gradually add support for using the scroll wheel to quickly move through different frames. So the workflow should get smoother soon.

Hi! I have played around with some different resolutions and frame rates. And I inspected the CinemaDNG metadata.
My 2048×1152 exports are physically 2048×1152.
However:
-
3840×2160 exports from Pixboom Cine are actually stored as 3840×2176
-
1280×720 exports from Pixboom Cine are actually stored as 1280×736
The DNG metadata correctly contains:

DefaultCropOrigin = (0,8)
-
DefaultCropSize = 3840×2160 (or 1280×720)
So it looks like the files intentionally contain 8 extra sensor rows at the top and bottom, but some software seems to ignore the DNG DefaultCrop metadata and displays the full sensor instead.
The result is black bars on the left and right side of the frame, when I have set the timeline in DaVinci to 3840x2160, or 1280x720.
Is this expected behaviour, or should Pixboom Cine crop the image before export / write the DNG differently for better compatibility?
Has anyone had any experience in really dusty conditions with their Spark or what is the recommendation when in these environments? I shoot a lot of mountain biking and the dust is something that you can’t get away from so with the big vents i was curious if that was anything to be aware of.

Yeah, I’d probably use a camera rain/dust cover in that situation. Search “camera rain cover” on Amazon — there are lots of simple plastic covers that should help keep dust out.
