I second this.

While waiting for this camera I have had to rent two phantom cameras already and have not once had to use a “PC”

In my entire career i’ve met exactly on editor that still edited on PC and he simply did it to be quirky.

If this thing tries to force me to buy a Pc just to view and use the files it will immediately be sold (if it ever shows up)

I will say, as someone who’s had to watch all the “influencers” get sample units to use for their projects while having to simultaneously spend over $5,000 on rentals now due to delays i’m not exactly thrilled that every update is a delay.

The savings of the camera have now been spent waiting for the camera when we could have purchased the next cheapest option. I understand delays happen, but it would be nice to be able to get a loaner camera since there’s seemingly no shortage of them for other users.

Just in case you missed it, Pixboom replied to my comment with “We support both Windows and macOS, so Mac users are fully covered as well.”

I’ve also experienced a bit of frustration watching influencers be able to use beta units for their footage. I think if delays move into late May it would be appropriate and appreciated to have a few cameras scheduled to backers who request them

That’s completely bogus; a lot of people use x86 rather than macs.

In the US?  I am not saying that it does not exist but the absoulte majority is on Macs…

Please see what else is included in the box besides the Spark body, SSD card, and default mount.:eyes:

Beautiful! Love the data cable!! You guys in the past have mentioned a case for all this, still in the plans? If so, the camera will fit inside the case with the official case? Thanks!

Lens adapter shims in Package? Daamn. Love you Guys!

Yes, absolutely — it’s still in the plans, and it’s almost ready. Please stay tuned!

Yes !:heart_hands:

In my experience that’s limited to DITs and editors. Most of the rest are based on x86. The bigger the system the less likely that it’s a mac. Especially now, since the M series is optimized for mobile systems, the trade off being that its configuration is fixed at the semiconductor stage.

Regarding the software: Is there an SDK or plans for working with companies like Pomfort so that they can access/decode the footage in Silverstack/etc? If not I am happy to set up a meeting.

Hi Pixboom,

Thanks for showing the upcoming accessories, including the charger.

One suggestion I have, whether for this version or a future version of the power adapter, would be to use a 90-degree LEMO connection instead of the straight connector currently shown.

In my experience, straight connectors put a lot of strain on both the cable and the LEMO port, and they are also harder to rig onto equipment such as gimbals. With the placement of this connection, it will stick out quite far, making it more likely to snag on things. Over the years, I have broken a number of LEMO ports for exactly this reason.

I assume the power block will support both 110V and 220V, as most modern power adapters do. Will it use an interchangeable international plug built into the block, or will it come with a separate cable with different plug ends?

I would also suggest supplying some kind of round shim case, if possible or sale as a fitted accessory. Those mount shims are incredibly delicate and need to be handled with great care. Most modern lens companies provide a round metal shim kit case, which seems like a much better solution.

Such as this from DZO - https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1721724-REG/dzofilm_dzo_kfss_shim_set_for_koop.html?ap=y&smp=Y&srsltid=AfmBOoobR58zS1HZh7SDXCDl8oXAehS9kmMv7gz23hxMUkoU6oj746z_Uvk

Also, is there a reason the SSD/USB controller is limited to 20 Gbps rather than a more modern 40 Gbps connection? That surprised me a bit, since faster offload times would be a real advantage.

Thanks for fielding the ever growing question us Pixboomers have.

Mutiny makes some Right angle adapters for lemo ports that would probably fix this Right Angle Adapters 5pin or 2pin - for lemo type connectors – MUTINY

@Austin_Burke

No offense but I wouldn’t call a lemo adapter a Fix its more of a patch… I only bring the lemo connector up as a potential failure point. If this isn’t fixed at the design level, then I would just install a proper 90 degree lemo connector myself when I receive the power supply. it wouldn’t be the first time having to modify equipment.

Is it easy to modify the connector?

It is, if you’re able to solder smd level components. The Lemo is easily disassembled however the internal connection pins are quite small so DO NOT ATEMPT unless you are very skilled with soldering on electronics of this type. Most of my custom builds has required me to learn micro soldering so I don’t think much of modifying just a cable end!
